HS & MS Theatre Studio

MIDDLE SCHOOL THEATRE STUDIO

Rising 7th & 8th Grade Studio Application Due: March 24
Audition Date: March 30
3:30 pm – 6:30 pm, Aerobics Room

7th – 8th Grade Studio instructs and guides advanced theatre students as they prepare drama pieces for presentation in chapels and outside events including North Carolina Theater Conference (NCTC), Christians in Theater Arts (CITA) and the Wingate Shakespeare Recitation Competition. Students serve the school and the community and must commit to the class and team for the entire school year. Please note that attendance at outside rehearsals, festivals and competitions is required for students enrolled in this course.

Auditions will take place Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in the Aerobics room from 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm, Masks Required.

Audition Material

  • For your audition, prepare two monologues, each no more than a minute long. One should be comedic and the other dramatic.
  • They must be memorized.
  • If you currently have Mr. Shepherd or have had him in the past, please pick new pieces that you haven’t worked on with him previously.

HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE STUDIO

Rising 10th – 12th Grade Studio Application Due: March 24
Audition Date: March 30
3:30 pm – 6:30 pm, Aerobics Room


The Studio is an advanced acting course that trains student artists to prepare sketches, short plays, and full length productions for performance in chapels, Windy Gap, main stage productions, and various competitions and festivals. Work outside the classroom is required for performance and preparation. Mandatory attendance and participation includes, but is not limited to, Summer Camp Week, Windy Gap, NCTC/SETC Festivals, Wingate Shakespeare Recitation Competition and the CITA Theatre Festival. 


Audition required. Prerequisite: Theatrical Studies  


Auditions will take place Saturday, March 30, 2021 in the Aerobics room from 3:30 pm – 6:30pm, Masks Required.


Audition Material

  • For your audition, prepare two monologues, each no more than a minute long. One should be modern and the other classical (Shakespeare, Ancient Greek, anything before 1850 is appropriate). 
  • They must be memorized. 
  • If you currently have Mr. Shepherd or have had him in the past, please pick new pieces that you have not worked on with him previously.
