As the elementary school principal, I am excited to be a Cougar! As a Christian educator for over twenty years who has worked with every age group – from preschoolers to graduating seniors, I have found the elementary years to be the most rewarding for me and important in the life of a child.
At Carmel Christian School, we are committed to making the most of these critical years by instilling in your children the vision and practice of excellence in academics, character and service to the glory of God from an early age.
When I was an elementary student, an adult in my life taught me that I could fold my hands together into the shape of a church. My pointer fingers would come together to form the steeple, and when I would unfold my hands, the rest of my wiggling fingers would be the people. I was not sure then what lesson could be gained from that analogy, but what it tells me now is that it is truly the people that are the heart and soul of any successful organization, whether it is a church or a Christian school.
What I have discovered in my time at CCS is that our staff, especially our children’s teachers, are our greatest asset. Their love for the children and passion for seeing them improve in learning and life is a sight to see. They are the “living curriculum” that will model for the students how to properly read, write, and do arithmetic, but also how to be a disciple of Christ in the twenty-first century.
You are invited to come and tour our classrooms to see for yourselves all that God is doing on our campus. I would enjoy the opportunity to meet you as you become more acquainted with our school.
In His Service,
Elementary School Principal
Our students attend chapel every week on Thursdays by grade level. Kindergarten through second grade students attend Chapel first thing in the morning at 8:45 am. Third through fifth graders love to worship through song, testimonies and special speakers at 9:45 am. A variety of speakers and special emphasis programs are scheduled throughout the year appropriate for each grade.
Missions are part of our lifestyle. Each class participates in a mission project during the school year. Students have an opportunity to participate in local and international missions. In previous years, students have packed meals for Stop Hunger Now, gathered food for the Church in the City Ministry and much more.
The mission of the Carmel Media Center is to help the students, staff, and Carmel community become effective users of ideas and information. We do this by providing relevant resources to support and enhance the educational program at Carmel Christian School.
We seek to encourage a culture of reading which exposes students to a variety of authors, genres and topics for their personal enrichment, spiritual growth and enjoyment. well as teaching students how to navigate the world of information in the 21st century.
